bank switch and direct Debits

Have been with Smile for at least 14 years now, but had enough of them of late, thinking of switching to M&S. monthly income into this account is £1200, which is ok, but only two direct debits, one os mobile phone and the other a credit card, the latter only kicks in if i have something on my credit card, its set up to pay £25.00 a month, its there just in case i forget to pay, i normally try to pay off anything in at most 3 months. How would i get on switching when they ask for min 2 direct debits, and one only being active intermitantly. all my other direct debits are paid out of a joint Santander account with my wife. I know we shoud switch that, but she wont agree to it, so best we leave that alone.

The direct debits do not have to be monthly for M&S as I have a monthly and a yearly one.

Direct debits are active as long as they are used within a 13 month period otherwise they become dormant and may drop off. So as long as you make sure that sometime within 13 months from the last claimed direct debit payment you make another direct debit payment to your credit card then it will remain a active direct debit.
