Dignity

Having just lost my mother I began to organise her funeral. I rang what I thought would be a local Funeral director but when visited by funeral director was told it was a company called Dignity based in Solihull in the West Midlands .What they are doing is taking over most local funeral directors leaving there names the same but under the control of Dignity .So I began with them to arrange the funeral of my Mother at the start it was all OK .I was guided through it by a very nice gentleman looking back he maybe led me in a certain direction , I also had a price in mind .When he came with the final cost I could not believe the figure he gave me ,so I began to ask why it was so much and took a step back to think about it he said I was OK to go with someone else but I was concerned things wouldn't go to plan as I had already started arranging the funeral. I went with a local still independent funeral director and for more or less the same funeral I was quoted nearly £2000 cheaper. But it got me thinking afterwards that in situations like these when a loved one passes away people would just accept the price Dignity are asking as money should not be really an issue when things like this happen. Have any money-saving expert members had any dealings with this company I can’t believe they would take advantage of a situation like this.
Nice to save.

The funeral trade is a massively overpriced racket. Sad but true.

Why not? The funeral trade is like any other trade. Some companies provide great value, some are average, and some overcharge. If someone chooses to believe that "money should not be an issue when arranging a funeral" then they are the reason the overchargers exist.

Sorry for your loss. Thanks for the heads-up, glad you got yours sorted.
