If you earn less than £5k a year, you can join the Communist Party for a £1 month DD.

By paying for it. Oh the irony :rotfl:

On a more serious note, only 58p in the pound ends up with the charity!

First time I've heard that the communist party is a charity.

Oh, wait, that's the C in CP? :)

Where does that number come from? GoCardless offers Direct Debit collection for businesses, and they charge (a minimum of) 20p for every charge, and they are making profit. That means a charity may make more than 80p from a £1 DD.

Out of thin air like anyone else that makes these numbers up.
Think he was talking about the firefighters charity. On their website it says 58p out of a £ goes to charity. Because they have to pay for the lottery, not because of DD charges.

It is not a switching offer that DDs are needed for.

Interesting that Gocardless are now doing what various entrepreneurs have tried to set up as a business, relying on Gocardless to provide the back office. As far as the entrepreneurs were involved, when Gocardless spotted what they were up to they terminated them. :)

Are you sure this is Gocardless offering it????

The DD is for a company called MCDD. Probably owned by spare one

Companies House only lists one company by that name, which was a restaurant business that was dissolved in November 2013. This looks rather fishy.

Is this not a spam link? It seems to be setting up a DD for £1 per year, but does not tell me where this £1 is going, who owns the account, or what will happen with my bank details.

It's definitely being offered VIA GoCardless - but there's no info on who MCDD are. They aren't GoCardless.

It looks a bit dodgy to me. GoCardless set up DD's for businesses. But who are MCDD?

Though, whoever they are, I doubt they are even seeing your bank details - that's info only seen (surely) by the facilitator - GoCardless.

I agree that the post is spam and also agree that it is GoCardless who are facilitating the DD, but that it is not them who receive the money.

I'm reporting the post as spam.

Stupid question! What if I took out a new credit card and set the monthly repayment to be the full balance by DD. Each month I use the card to buy one pint of milk. (Or a single second class stamp, or some minor item I was going to buy anyway). Would this not qualify?
