Ombudsman complaint choice between AP or default.

Hi!
I don't post often but I really need some guidance. I've made a complaint to the Ombudsman about Santander and their late registration of a default 2 whole years after I entered a DMP. The ombudsman have said that the default should never had been applied in the first place.
Having spoken to the Ombudsman this afternoon I've explained that I took the complaint to them to start with to lesson the time this default hangs around for me. So I now have a choice, to withdraw my complaint and leave the default as it is, or continue and have it revised to 'Arrangement to pay' but that will hang around until 2021 as the account wasn't cleared until 2015.
My question really is which is the lesser of 2 evils? My Grandad has died and we now have a deposit for a mortgage, everything is paid off and has been since 2015. Which looks worse on a mortgage application? The AP or default...
Any help will be very, very much appreciated as I have to let her know on Monday.
Thanks in advance!

I would say that AP Markers would look better than a default, to a potential mortgage lender.
Its a difficult choice, i would be inclined to leave the default date as it is and take my chances.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. I'd leave the default as it is.0

I suspected that, a quick google told me to not be fooled by AP looking more positive than a default but I wanted to ask the people who know best!! Thanks very much.0
