This should not be a ban though. It is a surrendor of license under the totting up rules for new motorists.

OP - as for quickly booking test etc. you need to see what happens to licenses first. I am guessing you will be asked to surrender the existing license.
You need some form of license to take a test (i'm guessing a new provisional) and it is the application time for this that will be your limiting factor.
Have you appointed a solicitor or spoken to DVLA about this?

PS: the new license will also record this conviction.

My son was stopped by the police because one of his bulbs had fused. He had to go to the police station within 7 days with all his insurance papers, driving licence etc. He had to get a stamped and signed certificate from a garage, which the police had given him, stating that his lights were now working, and this cost him £5. The garage apologised for charging for this. If the police had bothered to look out into the car park when my son went down with his papers they would have seen that he's replaced the bulb. I thought everyone had to produce their papers whenever the police stopped them and found something wrong?

If you carry spare bulbs in your car - they can tell you to replace them before you drive off, but you don't have to get a certificate from a garage, produce your documents or anything. You can get a set of bulbs from Poundland but I would spend a little bit more to be honest.

Yes i will not get banned i will get my licence revoked and i will have to go back to a Provisional Licence
After speaking to the DVLA about rebooking my theory and Test in preperation for getting revoked i have been told that it is not that easy

I will get a letter after the Court Case, which will notify me that me Licence will be revoked in 5 Days Time. Once my Licence is revoked i have to send off a DV1 Form, to re apply for a Provisional Licence which will probably take 15 days to come. Then once i get that through i then have to book my Theory, and Driving Test. So i cannot simply re do my Tests the day after my Court Case!!!!!!! I have to go through all these Procedures

I think if some one gets banned, s/he won't get points on license!

So, in some circumstances, it is better to get banned for few days than re-sit for exam.

  • I am led to believe that IF i get my Licence revoked and IF i re pass my test, then i will have 6 points carried over

Normally that is correct - ban or points. But in this case, it is the 6 points that are leading to a revocation of the license (not a ban as such but the end result is the same). The 6 points will be recorded but the offence will have been spent for totting up purposes and so the new license will be a clean sheet in effect.

I know the above doesn't make much sense. What I mean is, if the Op gets caught for say speeding with 3 points, he will have 3 points on the new license. The existing 6 will have already been used to cause the license to be revoked.

Not sure if the new license will be 6 points in 2 yrs and your out or whether the 2 years started from date of the original license.
