    so the right answer is any heating system extended into to conservatory breaks the exemption from BR's, a TRV doesn't mean the system isnt extended, but some BR inspectors dont know/care.

    Yes, Part L1B states that 'extending the dwelling's heating system into the extension means the extension ceases to be exempt". This is under the heating of 'Conservatories and porches' but they do still use the term extension rather than conservatory to make things confusing. This is regardless of any heating controls installed within the conservatory.

    There are then additional requirements for heating controls, U-value requirements and thermal separation requirements to make the non-exempt conservatory compliant under Bldg Regs.
