Rolling year energy use stats

My energy supplier provides energy use in CSV file format.
I have to process the data in order to establish my energy use over the last 12 months, for comparison purposes.
Why don't energy supplies provide this figure on a rolling period basis?

Yes, I have downloadable bills, can show energy use on a rough trend, and download usage in CSV

As all the info is on your bill why bother with the csv data ? The comparison sites don't want it - just a 12 month total.
