Cancelling Sky - how much notice?

I'm moving house next month (June 20th) and will be cancelling Sky (TV, BB, Phone) as I want to start again with a new deal (probably BT initially, just BB and Phone as it's a new line/reconnection and I think using BT might make it more straightforward - please correct me if I'm wrong on that assumption!). And will probably get Freesat or Now TV after we've moved in.

When should I contact them to cancel? Do I give a month's notice to terminate on the day we move out i.e. can I choose the day I want it to end? I obviously want to keep everything till we move but don't want to carry on paying longer than we have to.

Sorry if this is a stupid question :o

31 days for the TV. So if you have no intention of keeping Sky at the new address and you want it to finish on your moving out date, June 20th, phone up and cancel on the 20th of May.

You can transfer your Sky phone and BB (but not your phone number) to your new address as per https://www.sky.com/help/articles/moving-home-faqs

Thanks Neil, that's great, that's what I was hoping, it's useful that we know our moving date so far in advance, I'll phone them on the 20th.

The phone-line in the property we're moving to is disconnected as it hasn't been used as a permanent residence for a good few years. I thought this might complicate things with transferring to it. If we can't keep the phone number I guess there's even less benefit of sticking with Sky. I wonder if we move to BT whether they'll let us keep it? It's in the same town/exchange.

If the line's physically disconnected at the exchange you are most likely going to have to pay for a new line, even more likely if there is no phone socket or cabling to a telegraph pole from the property (but this doesn't mean anything as there are lots of properties that have phone service/internet but the cables go underground so there isn't a pole in sight).

That being said you can always go through the sign-up process using an address on the BT website and they'll know what needs to happen with the line.
