I need to send my driving licence to change my address (long overdue) but as I am not British (just married to one!) i have to send my identity card (passport has just expired) therefore somebody has to sign my photo and the form. I do not really know any of the suggested professional person but can anybody sign? i mean it says a reputable person.. would a work colleague, who has known me for years, do?
i know i can also go to my doctor but it's so hard to get an appointment and i think they charge for this now....
Any suggestions would be welcome.
Thank in advance.

A policeman, a civil servant - but they must have known you personally for more than two years.0

thanks for help. I ended up asking a nurse/midwife and apparently that's fine...A friend is a present which you give yourself (R.Stevenson)

There used to be a long list of people on the passport office website, but that's changed with the new procedures.
Basically, it's anyone 'in good standing' which'd be regulated by a proper professional body - so a nurse, policeman, teacher, social worker, accountant, lawyer, chemist, choropodist, civil servant, optometrist, trade union rep, funeral director, fireman etc etc...
GPs will charge as it's a private matter not covered by the NHS"This is a forum - not a support group. We do not "owe" anyone unconditional acceptance of their opinions."0 -

I'm not sure how useful that will be as the OP was looking for a driving licence, not a passport.
However, the DVLA kindly provide some examples of appropriate people here

Well, actually, any person with a good standing on society can sign on it!
I am a graduate engineer (degree level) and I signed on my colleague's license and it was approved. And I am not a EU citizen!
But the person should be your your immediate family member. But can be friend/relative.
Doesn't matter if s/he knows you for 2 years. As long as s/he believes that you're a good person  s/he would happlily sign.
Hope it helps.Happiness is buying an item and then not checking its price after a month to discover it was reduced further.0
