Switching from Flat Rate VAT to Standard VAT

Options
Hi,

I'm going to be changing from the Flat Rate Scheme to Standard VAT and I've got a few questions:

1. Can I get the change period altered to be the start of May - or must it go to the start of the next quarter?

2. My understanding is that I just write them a letter telling them of my request to change schemes and when I would like the new scheme to commence, is this correct?

I've yet to speak to my accountant but I get the horrible feeling that this should have been done prior to the start of this quarter.

Thanks.

Can be backdated to the start of the current quarter, or can be changed at any date during the quarter. Just need to get your letter in soon enough so that they can activate and approve the change before the current quarter ends.
