Ikea Warning

I went to Ikea (Lakeside) for my sins yesterday...(Sunday)..along with the world and his wife!!! I was looking to buy 3 cheap chairs..when I got to the aisle where they can be picked from...guess what ..It was empty, not a box in sight.Really made my day...I bought some other stuff and just happened to mention to the girl on the checkout that they didn't have what I came for.She told me to go back to the unmarked "service desk" and they would check the stock because they sometimes store items elsewhere..(really helpful). Lo and behold they had 6 in stock and a very kind member of staff got them down for me..Not a wasted trip after all.Next time i go..I'm not going to join the lemmings but head straight for the service desk and save myself hours.
But a major warning if you have bought an ERIKSLUND picture with frame no:701.165.30.It is advertised in the catalogue (page 320) for £6.99...but I was charged £9.49 !!! I called Ikea this morning to be told it was a computer error and they would refund the difference...so if you have bought this item ..check your receipt you may have been overcharged too.

you went to Lakeside Ikea on a weekend
empty aisle is a common trait there, I have wanted a couple of items recently and there was only a dust mite in site0 -
you know why there was no staff manning the desk? because Ikea have just made loads of long service staff redundant and coming to a store near you will be loads of monkeys being paid peanuts to do these jobs that they just made redundant. They'll have no experience and the whole ikea shopping experience will be even more of a nightmare.0

I also went to Ikea Lakeside on sunday after promising my good lady......
We got there after 2pm, thinking it should be a bit quieter - wrong! After trying to find a parking space, we got in to the mayhem of store.
Obviously, we had rung to make sure the items we wanted were in stock and after being told that they had "loads" we ended up queuing to speak to a customer advisor to find the goods aisle location as we knew what we wanted already. After half an hour we got the location - then the extra fun began. We needed a trolley [couldn't find one in the immediate area] so I went to find the items whilst my partner managed to get a trolley. We then had the fun task of trying to find the "loads" in stock items - and ended almost fighting over the last one with another shopper.......
Anyway, to cut the story short, we managed to lose 2 hours whilst getting the items, paying for them, and then trying to remember where the car was!
Next time, evening or day off from work I think !0 -

Dagsyrugg...Sounds very familiar....I was fighting over a trolley too...absolute mayhem. However, a good hint for the car park...drive past the main entrance and go in the side entrance at the bottom(close to the store)..turn first left when you get thru the gates..saves you hours.0 -
