£1 DDs to Charities

Each Penny, with respect, you are forgetting something!
...
If £1 causes them difficulties or leaves them with nothing, then it's within their power to increase their minimum!
With equal respect Moneytree, please read the whole thread before adding comments of that nature.
The point I entered the discussion to make was that it would be unfortunate if people using £1 DD's (or £2 for that matter) only to qualify for interest on a bank account led to a situation where charities were forced to increase their minimum DD amounts.
This could mean people who genuinely want to make a donation but are on a limited income may have to make a choice between stopping donating, or overstretching themselves to make the new minimum payment.
Charities are there to help people, not to provide a convenient tool for people to make a profit from. There are plenty of alternative ways of obtaining the required number of DD's, some of which don't involve you giving money to anyone else. If someone is too mean to give a charity a decent donation then they are free to opt to use one of the alternatives.
It would be a real shame for everybody if a few people who are either too lazy or too selfish to use one of the alternatives caused problems for the rest of us, and in doing so also harmed the good work done by charities.
From the posts you've made elsewhere you seem to not fall into either the lazy or selfish category, so hopefully you will understand why giving charities a headache is not a decent or responsible thing to do"In the future, everyone will be rich for 15 minutes"0
