Barcelona

Im going to Barcelona next month and was wondering if someone could reccommend a good hotel, something as cheap as possible (we're not too fussy this time) in the centre.

I dont really know anything about the place so im finding it hard to choose a hotel. Also, is it expensive to eat out, drink, etc..

Cheers

Try Late rooms or lastminute.com. We got the 5* Melia for £50 per night.

I'd recommend doing a search on venere.com - really helpful website with lots of good maps/reviews, and reasonable prices too (which you also don't have to pay in advance)
PM me if you want a 4% discount code.

I think it's a good idea to check out this website even if you find hotels cheaper elsewhere, as the descriptions and maps are generally better than other sites in my opinion.

    Hope that helps

PS - I'm not connected to this website in any way, and I don't gain anything from this post. I also found the discount code on another forum.

Hi I am also looking for a good deal on accommodation in Barcelona for 14,15 November, I am on a very tight budget needing to spend less than £50 at night for 2 people. Can anyone who has been recommend a reasonable place to stay near the centre area. I have never been to Barcelona so I dont really know where is a good lace to stay in order to see the main site in a couple of days.

Cheapest I found on late rooms was £55 for a hotel

    Thank you in advance

The H10 Montcada, isnt bad, right in the middle of the Gothic Area, smallish rooms, but got for £55 a night and two free bottles of champers due to power cuts.
Food and drink can be had as pricy or as cheap as you want, there are loads of hostels, and Hostel pubs that do meals starting from 1 euro, and everything in-between.
  • When I went to Barcelona with college we stayed at the Hotel Roma Reial.

It was very simple, but clean, and the worst part I can remember was the lift! It's barely big enough to hold 2 or 3 people and the stairwell goes right around it with just a wire kind of fence, so it wouldn't be good for kids but if you're capable of not climbing into the shaft (!) it's not a problem. You spend minimal time on the stairs anyway!

I don't remember it being overly noisy, but then I was part of a student group so possibly wouldn't have noticed anyway ... I suppose that depends on whether you want to party or have a relaxing holiday!

If you're lucky enough to get a room at the front of the hotel, you get a balcony with gorgeous views over the Placa Reial

and it's on a little square just off La Rambla (Street running up the main town centre, has live entertainers, colourful markets, loads of tapas bars, restaurants, bars...) It really is an impressive location. I'm not sure what the cost was but it must have been cheap as my college were not known for being extravagant with the cash :rotfl: There's also a few really nice cafes and bars on the square where the hotel is.

Just watch out when you're on La Rambla for the pickpockets - they're among the best in the world and it's just an idea to make sure you're aware at all times, and not to keep more than you need on your person, etc. Saying that I never had anything stolen and only one person from our group of 50(ish) did, (twice!) because she let a gipsy woman put her hand in her purse to find a 1cent coin, and then when she put her bag down for a second and turned around.

Like other people have said, cost of eating/drinking really depends on where you go. We found ourselves shopping at a supermarket to make our own lunch, and we had tapas one night which was lovely, and good fun too. There's also a fantastic covered market for fresh stuff, and the hotel has a restaurant but we didn't eat there.
I don't believe and I never did that two wrongs make a right
  • Stayed at the Sagrida Familia hotel recently which had just been rennovated.

the hotel was at 2/3 star prices but more like a 4 star hotel and is situated right near the Sagrida familia catherdral (hence the name !)

id def recommend it and try to ask for top floor (7th i think ) cos it comes with decent view and bacony/roof top area.
