in Credit cards
Hi wonder if anyone can help. Not sure if this is the correct forum, if anyone can point me to the correct one...
My late father had a direct debit for £30 a month initiated in 2009 to a Scottish Finance. There are no paperwork details we have been able to locate and a Google search for scottish finance with a number of additional key words like debt, direct debit, credit card etc through up no answers. His girlfriend believes this may be an old credit card debt but without any information how do we go about contacting them find out whats outstanding and to pay the rest of the debt?
Has anyone got them as a direct debit who could help?
Thanks,
Kara

Unless it was a joint account with his girlfriend, the account the DD is drawn from shouldn't be active anymore anyway?
If it is/was a joint account, she could simply cancel the DD mandate and see what happens! Normally this isn't a good idea in terms of the impact on a credit file of failing to keep up debt repayments but obviously his credit status is no longer an issue and if it's not her debt then she's not actually liable for it....0
