Response times from Homes and Communities Agency

Hope someone can give me a bit of advice. I'm selling my mum's house as executor of her estate, and there's a covenant on it from the Commission for New Towns stopping it being let out. CNT has been superceded by HCA, and my conveyancer has written to them asking for a letter of approval (?? something like that) to lift that clause. Conveyancer implied it should be a simple matter, but it's been 6 weeks since she said she wrote to them and hasn't heard back.

My question is really - is 6 weeks too long for HCA to have taken, or is this reasonable? My conveyancer isn't being very forthcoming and, if it's an excessive time, I want to chase HCA myself if I can.

Why don't you ring them and ask what they'd expect their response time to be?
  • HCA were a bit vague themselves when I rang, although their website does say that they'd expect to respond within 3 working weeks or at least give a timescale for a resolution by then.
