  • Thank you to all three of you for your advice. Ill speak to parents this evening about the next steps and double check for any room descriptions there may be on any other documentation they have got.

As a side note, the website does state that super saver rooms may not have a balcony. This would only be relevant to the OP's situation if the adviser read out the important information section to them (it appears they did not?).

Is this the virgin website or the hotel website? Could you post the link, I cant find that information?

  • I'm surprised the hotel actually have details of any arrivals for Feb 2018. Tour operators generally only send manifests to hotels about 14 days prior to arrival. Until then, they just have rooms blocked off under the tour operators name with no individual details.

I don't know when in February they're going but the hotel certainly doesn't appear to be booked up.

It's under the important information section, which you have to tick to say that you've read. I would expect this to come up on the advisor's screen also, but cannot be sure.

Check the dates for their travel - like leylundsunaddict, the dates I checked have availability at all levels. Then I'd be contacting the hotel directly, keep it friendly, remind them they are repeat guests and how disappointed they'd be if their third stay didn't match up to the wonderful time they have had previously. Also send it to a specific person, the general manager or guest services manager. I'd be surprised if they won't sort something out for them.

If they've had a good discount Id chalk it to experience. At the end of the day we go in the room to sleep, maybe have an odd drink but little more. Enjoy a day trip with the savings in the room cost

Invoice for going in April 17 says "Super Saver Room" as well, but they were in a garden view. Is it possible hotel had availability and just changed reservation to a better room?

I would say that was exactly what happened. Virgin Holidays will have a very small allocation of these saver rooms which can be used as a price point lead in. If more are sold or if the hotelier feels like it, they 'upgrade' customers to the next category.

Like LeylandSunaddict points out, I can't see that the hotel can be full next February. It will certainly be peak season in Barbados but unlikely they are full at this point. The hotel might have contracted out all rooms to Operators but that doesn't mean they are all sold.

Forgive me if I missed this but have you actually tried to make a booking for the same dates but with a different room category? Could your parents offer to pay to be allocated the room of their choice, therefore a relatively simple booking amendment?
