Advice needed on where to start.

Hi,
I have been reading through the threads on here for a few months, inc the start up one.I'm thinking of setting up my own business, or just launching myself more to get more jobs (I'm self employed, but I dont advertise or anything)
I'm a Cad technician in the construction trade and I would like to set myself up properly, advertising, website, bank account, but also to expand the business to offer builders quotes and as a sideline to offer a female led project managment service aimed at women who would prefer not to deal with builders/planning/building control for various reasons.
I just dont know where to start, I feel overwhelmed. I also got knocked back on a job recently for not having enough experience (in a different field of cad) I didn't even make the interview
I think it was because they wanted to take me on as a trainee, and pay me as a trainee, where as self employed I can earn a proper wage, iyswim, so I refused to go down to a certain amount of salary.
I have done some limited research into the female side of the business, which got a very positive response (I set up polls on 2 female majority website forums)
Any help, motivation, critisism (spelling help
) and advice would really be appreciated!
