Credit Card - To Use Abroad

Hi all, I'm going away to India next month. Just wondered what is the best credit card to get for me and the missus whilst away?
Do not actually plan on using it that often, just on an as and when, and especially for when abroad. So would always pay the balance off in full.
What is the current best card to use for not being charged fees for using it abroad? Most accepted card in the UK and abroad? Has the best insurance cover should something either be wrong with an item we buy, or should we be a victim of fraud?
Cheers in advance

Nationwide Card (albeit I have a problem with them at the moment).
Post Office Card.
Saga.Aiming to be debt free....but still off target0 -
if not Desperate for cash I would stay well clear of using a cc abroad. best is the nationwide debit card, put what you need to use beforehand, use abroad.Save saynoto0870.com in your favorites, and stop giving companies more £££ dialling 0870 numbers when you can dial freephones or cheaper alternatives
call your credit card company, tell them that you want to leave, 99% of the time theyll lower your APR%
Remember when that Bank Manager or Salesperson smiles at you, all he sees is £ notes. Dont forget the motto, "the wider their grin, the more debt your in"0 -
Is it just the Nationwide current account? Or a special account?
Would Nationwide cover against fraud and insure against things purchased?
Cheers for the replies as well0 -
I went last year and took some cash, and they gave me more for £50 notes than for £10 notes:T They usually change money in the electrical shops and at a better rate than the banks.0
