Estimated vs Real Final Bill
Hi all,
At the beginning of March, I switched from Scottish Power to Flow Energy as the latter had a significantly cheaper unit price and standing charge.
I left Scottish Power with the knowledge that I had an outstanding balance with them, which I would pay once I had received a final bill from them.
On the day I switched, I supplied meter readings to both my old and new provider. However, the final bill I received from my old provider was labelled as an estimated reading, but was the same as the reading I supplied to both companies.
After contacting them and my new provider, I was informed that this estimated reading was agreed by both energy companies upon my switchover. My new provider is asking for photographs from switchover day, which I do not have, so cannot dispute the meter reading.
However, I do not wish to dispute the meter reading (which I gave them). My concern is the estimated reading label. I do not wish to pay a final bill based on what my previous provider perceives as an estimated reading, as I am concerned about the future implications this may have.
Any advice and/or previous experience in this meter would be most welcome.
Thanks,
Chris

Welcome to the forum.
As long as the closing meter reading for Scottish Power is the same as the start meter reading for Flow energy, there isn't a problem.
In spite of you giving the meter reading, it still has to be agreed between the two companies.0 -
