How to find out if my Solicitor/Conveyancer is on my Lenders Panel?

Hello,

I am applying for a mortgage to purchase a new build flat.

I've just instructed my solicitor to act on my behalf.

But then i realised i forgot to ask them whether they are on my mortgage company lender panel of approved solicitors/conveyancers.

I applied mortgage with Nationwide Building Society.

My solicitor is very good reputation for doing conveyancing for new build flats and deals often with big big property developers. So i'm assuming they would be on Nationwide list of approved panel.

How can i check for certain?

My Solicitor is uncontactable for a few days but i am eager to know now and hopefully find out myself

Either ask your solicitor or ask the Nationwide. If they're a busy conveyancing firm I would think it odd for them not to be on Nationwide's panel. And someone else at the firm can answer the question, doesn't need to be "your" solicitor!

Ask the solicitor or ask the mortgage lender.

If the solicitor is uavailable, there must be another partner in the firm, a legal secretary, or even the receptionist who knows.

Yes, call your solicitors. Anyone in the conveyancing department will be able to tell you.

    Ask the lender.

Sometimes lenders do reviews of their panels and remove solicitors due to inactivity. They do not always tell the solicitor so they could unknowingly have been removed from the panel. They can normally be added fairly easily but it just delays everything by a few days so best to find out sooner rather than later.
