Parking charge notice - I'm guilty!

I've read the forums and recognise that you don't encourage anyone to pay these tickets however I overstayed in a Lidl carpark. I didn't even shop in Lidl! I was at a child protection meeting nearby which over-ran and I couldn't leave. I accept the blame and the responsibility but I don't want to pay the charge if I can help it, though fully admit that I should be prepared to. Should I send the standard wording anyway and see what happens? I don't want to end up in court and would rather pay £45 to have avoid this but I know not everyone has that attitude!

Thoughts gratefully appreciated.

Read the Newbies thread and send the appropriate appeal. You are not "guilty" as you put it. It's not a crime.

Also if you have broken the rules then to enforce them the ppc shouldn't break the rules and I bet they do.

    Which ppc is it?

So you overstayed a little, you couldn't avoid it, you didn't do it on purpose and you caused no harm or obstruction to anyone. And I'm willing to bet that even though you didn't shop at lidl that day you are still a customer, if only an occasional one.

So do you deserve to be hit with a scandalous, extortionate and totally disproportionate charge for a minor accidental infringement?

No, you don't. They're trying to screw you over for a quick, easy buck so why are you being so reasonable about this and trying to play fair? Believe me, they don't want to play fair!.

Stop being so apologetic and get angry that some filthy scammer is trying to rip you off.

Start will lidl who exposed you and every other poor sucker who used their car park (mainly their own customers) to these bottom feeders.

Go see the manager and give him hell telling him you are a customer who spends £££s in there, how dare they try to punish you for being a paying customer. Don't accept any guff about 'there's nothing we can do, take it up with the PPC'

that's rubbish they can cancel this and they better because you're gonna raise holy hell if they don't, starting with social media and letters to your mp.

Losing your custom and incurring your wrath will cost them a lot more than the PPC will make if they ever managed to prise the cash from your cold dead hand

    Who is the PPC?

If you contact Lidl they will cancel. Athena have, to date, never taken anyone to court.

The more often Christian Haertnagel is bothered by angry emails from angry (soon-to-be-ex) customers, the sooner he'll get fed up with Athena's presence on his car parks, and the sooner he'll be giving them the heave-ho.

    Agreed

I have written many times to CEO's, not about parking tickets but this ...

"As CEO, you will already know that your company employ what are commonly known as parking scammers.
I fail to see why you would expect your customers to spend money with your company when you clearly hold customers in contempt.
Good parking management is acceptable but parking scammers are not acceptable especially their actions after a ticket is issued such as harassment and threats of court.
Therefore as your company practice bad parking management, I will not spend any money with you until you can confirm that I will not be subject to this very distasteful scam you allow to be operated in your car parks.
The simple fact is that as a consumer, I have many options where to spend my money and right now, this will not be with your company"

I get interesting replies with lots of excuses. Any negative reply results in a final letter ....

"I note your reply to which you have not addressed my complaint in a proper and professional manner.
You have therefore confirmed to me that I should not spend money with you"

The point is, whether you have a parking ticket or not, the more letters of disgust to these CEO's, the quicker it will sink in.

All CEO's don't have a clue about lost business

Of course, the joker in the pack is Tesco who use their own staff to take pictures of cars ? A very odd way to attract loyalty

How do you know all thus stuff Lamilad?.

As I see it, OP deliberately parked where he/she should not have done, thus depriving a customer of a parking space, and perhaps costing the company a customer. Accidental it was not

It is behaviour such as this that allows PPC to flourish. Landowners have rights too you know.
You never know how far you can go until you go too far.

Nope, in my area there are hardly any vermin.

Lidl and Waitrose use council car parks with pay machines and Waitrose refund the ticket

Tesco Express and Co-op have no vermin

There is Morrisons with the vermin PE but right next door is an Aldi with no vermin
We have two M&S stores, one with parking vermin and the other vermin free

So, I can shop easily without fear
