Renting the house you are buying

Hi
Quick question our sale has fell though on the house we wanted, we want to keep our buyer, we have also found another house, put an offer in and been accepted.
The person selling is getting divorced his partner has taken everything virtually out of the property, he is going to live with a relative.
We are contemplating asking would he rent to us whilst the paperwork goes through, is this viable or not allowed.
Thanks

It can be done but the owners of the house you're buying would be bonkers to go ahead with it.
Sales involving divorcing couples have a tendency to drag so it might not be a bad idea to keep looking just in case and either explain to your buyer what's happening and hope (s)he is sympathetic or move into rented accommodation just not the place you are hoping to buy.0 -
As above, the owners would be crazy to allow this. It comes with all sorts of legal responsibilities on them, and gives you a chance to find all the little faults and niggles that every house has.0

Great idea for the buyer.
Highly risky for the seller for all sorts of practical, and legal, reasons.
Ask and let us know........0
