Pocket Money

Morning Everyone!

Hope you are well and had a great weekend?

I've been busy sorting my own Flylady plan to keep on top of the housework. The OH is loving it already!

My question though for this thread is that I have been toying with the idea now of drawing out my money and keeping it as little packs of 'pocket money' as I often fall victim to the 'pay wave' trap where it's too easy to whip my card out.

Does anyone else do this? Does anyone budget say £20 a week in pocket money and once it's gone...it's gone kind of thing?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

Yes, I used to do this. I stuck to £20 per week, then say if by the end of the week I only needed £10 I would save the other £10

Just try it for a week, whenever your week starts and see how it goes. :)

    Thanks Linda!

Thankfully I'm on a book buying ban at the mo, so that will definitely help me save!

I will start today :) hoping to record some NSDs this month too!

I have a rule that I don't use a card for anything under £10 - so that helps me see how small purchases all add up.

Also, on a different note, I keep a 'fritter fund' - I save a small amount each month and that pot is my 'guilt-free-even-if-it's-frivolous' spending money.

I also used to keep a count of all the significant BOGOF savings and then blow those on a big purchase once a year... haven't done it for a couple of years but, now I've remembered, might start it again.
    :hello:

    Hi,

As this has dropped down the OS board and is more budgeting based, i've moved it to the appropriate forum for you. Good luck with it all

Hi, we move threads if we think they’ll get more help elsewhere (please read the forum rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board. If you have any questions about this policy please email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com.
