Franke Sink - why such big price difference?

I have an Ascona in my kitchen. Its two years old. I hate it. It scratches really really easily, and only looks shiny when it is freshly cleaned and polished. I sincerely wish that I had never bought it. I have had SS sinks before which were much more hard wearing and didnt require constant cleaning. My water is hard and every dried droplet shows, up as do greasy smears from a dishcloth, I could accept all this in a utility room but not my kitchen. I would love to find a replacement but it would have to fit the cut out hole exactly as I do not want to replace the worktops.0

That's what I'm wondering, as mine will be in the kitchen and I want it to look good.
Does anyone know any other brand of modern stainless steel sink that won't show every scratch? Mine will be in a quartz worktop, so I can't really replace it easily once it's in.0 -
I wouldn't go with one that has large flat areas, that's where the marks show. A more ribbed draining area will disguise the problem more.Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.0

Even the ones with a ribbed draining area seem to show every scratch.
What has happened to modern ss sinks? In the past they were always hard-wearing, and looked good even after many years. Something seems to have happened to make them show every scratch, and it's become very difficult to choose something that should be simple.0 -
The other option is to have a linen finish (which I personally don;t like) but it hides scratches and droplets well.
Any fitter will tell you that anything shiny (including worktops) will show up every mark

But this did not used to happen. I have always had stainless steel sinks in the past and this was not a major problem. I'm not sure what has happened to modern steel to make them scratch more easily.0 -
I can't say I've noticed any scratching on mine, Franke but not that model, perhaps I'm not that fussy! Although I do think the stainless steel fridge always looks awful so perhaps I am fussy. I don't know.Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.0

Franke are traditionally supposed to be the best sinks, my grandparents swore by them, but these days they're probably more like German cars, expensive and really no better than a Ford.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

In my opinion Franke are a typical corporate company out to take retail customers for as much as they can get away with. They get very stroppy because the internet has killed some of their rip off ways.
There are Franke sinks out there sourced from outside the UK, which can be cheaper than those coming through Franke UK. Obviously Franke UK do not like this but there is nowt they can do about it. There is a likelihood JL will be sourcing through Franke UK whilst Screwfix will be more commercial and savvy.
Yes Furts I found VERY bad reports of these sinks online especially attrocious take-it-or-leave-it for customer complaints which never get resolved.
Where can I get a decent hardwearing sink then, any suggestions?0 -

Hi Annie, did you ever find a good sink because I'm desperately looking too?0
