hi,
i just curious in trying to find a decent place for my family but everywhere looks bad crime wise mainly and we are looking at renting low at the moment but till later we can find a better place, but everything comes up for moston or fallsworth if spelt right.
Or if anyone can please tell me what are good areas to look for a house within a 3 mile radius of Middleton that would deeply appreciated.
thanks very much in advance
Ps. the place on moston lane was right at top towards oldham

Moston Lane around the shops is a big NO !
If you mean further up around Moston Lane East then yes, nice place.
I grew up in that area.0 -
I lived in Moston (just off Kenyon Lane), and it was OK when I lived there, in the 1970s/80s. Areas change a lot over time, so I couldn't really say what it's like now.
It's worth checking the illustreets and streetcheck websites to get an idea of what an area is like, though obviously not as good as speaking to people that actually live there. Prestwich is quite nice, but around 4-5 miles away from Middleton so maybe a bit too far.0 -
thanks alot for the info, and yeah its very close to the train station. and yeah prestwich as always sounded like a nice place but those prices are high there0

yeah i heard heywood is a not bad area to live but not found any 3 beds there yet and so desperate to move due to our area being so bad these days in alkrington0

Heywood (I used to live there) is kinda nice but bad for public transport to central Manchester. Maybe Royton, or Shaw/Milnrow (the latter are a bit more than 3 miles but on the Metrolink and nice/affordable areas). Not sure if affordable, but Whitefield should be OK too.0

You live in Alkrington currently? And you think Moston or Failsworth will be better? They probably won't, but these places are not far from you at all, go and see them! Talk to the people you know in real life, chances are some of them will live there, or have family or friends who do.
Nicer places aren't cheap, there are some lovely bits of Chadderton not far from you but you'd have to pay more to live there.0 -
No that Moston Lane area isn't nice. Have you looked the other side of Middleton -Castleton maybe ? Go and visit Friday/Saturday nights. Alkrington has some very bad bits. If you find somewhere you like, speak to the neighbours.0

I don't know Manchester but as a general rule, if you can only afford to live in a very few places in a city, those places are not going to be very nice.0

If you currently live in Alkrington then Moston is no different really. If you want to move to a nicer area though, it's going to cost you.0
