Too late too appeal? / "Reserved" = adequate signage?

Hello everyone,
I've received a ticked from First Parking LLP back in February and based on, now apparently outdated, advice from a friend, I chose to ignore it rather than appeal.
I have now received a letter from the DCA which I will also ignore as advised by these forums. The question is will I be able to appeal once the DCA passes it back to the PPC and they threaten to litigate?
Secondly, the basis of my appeal will be that in the proximity of the bay it simply said "Reserved" and did not provide any signage saying that I would be fined if I parked there. I was also only visiting the university for the week so was unfamiliar with the car park lay-out, and didn't realise my permit didn't allow me to park in the Reserved zone. Do you guys think this will work? Any other suggestions if not?
Also according to URL: bmpa.eu/companydata/First_Parking_LLP - First Parking LLP haven't taken anyone to court in three years, does that mean I am relatively safe? How reliable is that website?
Cheers
