    Although not correct, those forks have no rake whatsoever so it is unlikely to be dangerous.
    The rake on those forks is from the fork legs being ahead of the headstock and the wheel axle being in front of the fork leg.

    however I was expecting someone experienced and who had worked with bikes
    When I was 10 years old I could have probably helped . . .
    We always built our own bikes out of anything we could find back then. :)

    Same here. At that age I could strip and rebuild a bike. :)

    The Argos Christmas TV ad of 2011 apparently featured a kid's bike with the forks fitted back to front. And it's a regular occurrence at Halfrauds, because the bikes are boxed with the bars turned 90 degrees to save shipping space, and the ill-trained staff who 'assemble' them don't have a clue.
    Take it to an LBS, it's five minute job-and get them to check the brake function and cabling at the same time. If you've not touched it in two years then it's due a service, especially if used off road, which it presumably is.
    No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
