Hi All
planning to switch bank accounts (cahoot) to M&S bank but i dont have a salary going into the account being switched (cahoot), just a standing order from another account (first direct) which receives my salary and i dont want to close.Am i able to do this or will they only accept a direct salary payment for the minimum £1000 that needs to go in each month?
Many thanks
Alan

Yes, you are able to do this.
No, they will not only accept a direct salary payment. In fact, I'm not aware of any bank which stipulates this. Probably because many people, like me, don't have a salary;)0 -
Thanks Badger

Or the last;)
brisker, if you are concerned by this 'refusal', check your credit reports with all 3 CRAs in case there is anything there you're not aware of.
Don't take it personally, there are plenty of other banks out there.0 -
Just remember that M&S and First Direct both use HSBC systems.
If HSBC goes down then it's possible that both of them will too.
Do you have a non-HSBC account to fall back on?This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
