Halifax total mortgage protection

My husband and myself took out a mortgage with Halifax in 2009 and from what we both remember were told we had to take out their Total Mortgage Protection Plan. It's something we always thought was necessary for us to obtain their mortgage but we are now wondering if this is indeed the case. Does anyone know if this was missold to us and do we have any grounds to reclaim the money? Thanks for any advice

It was not compulsory in 2009 to take this out. It is a post-2005 sale and the Halifax statement of demands and needs documentation issued at the time would confirm that it was optionalDoes anyone know if this was missold to us and do we have any grounds to reclaim the money?
Nothing you have said suggests you have any grounds for complaint. What you believe is not a good enough reason.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). From personal experience this is an excellent product from Halifax. I took out TMP before 2005 and so glad I did, its kept a roof over my family on two separate occasions. Mortgage insurance is essential unless you have adequate cover elsewhere or would not be eligible to claim on the policy.0
