UK based family travelling to India in the summer. Trying to book travel insurance but getting confused, have had travel insurance for years but mainly bought it to cover medical as we only went skiing and to France.

However as of Monday I will have paid out £3k for flights and £2k for India tour, wiht further £2k nearer time.Taking best advice as I booked flights today looking to book travel insurance.

I am not a big fan of claiming on insurance, it is only there as a safety blanket. So I thought any travel policy would cover me for medical (that does seem standardish in all) and for the cost of my holiday if we couldn't travel due to reason beyond our control, be that personal or war, disease blah, blah....

The cancellation cover is confusing me sorry, I am being asked if I need cover for airspace closure, Travel Disruption Cover, all sorts of stuff as extras and only covering for 2 or 5k, well its costing me minimum £7k. Am I missing something or being stupid and don't get me started on we can't have a family policy as daughter now 18 :(:(

TIA....

John Lewis Premier does £8k. I just tried a family policy with an 18 year old and it quoted.

Post Office do £10k and you can do a 'friends' policy rather than family.

It's worth pointing out no insurance provides cover for anything caused by war or terrorism.

Thanks, beginning to think I just take the cheap(er) option and go for medical cover and whatever cancellation comes with that, spending a fortune on cancellation just doesn't seem worth it?

Just for completion I went with https://www.multitrip.com/ £110. Got a family policy as they accepted 18 as the max age for a child, while others wouldn't accept her as she was 18. The £110 was the premium policy too, with £5k cancellation. Top medical cover which to me is the main part. Thanks for help.
