Fire wall in loft

Hello all, wondering if anyone has recent experience of putting a fire wall in a loft of a mid-terrace house.
Has shown up as problem on survey.
Agent reckons would cost £500 to have one put in, a relative thinks would be more expensive.
Also wondering if it has to be signed off by anyone, has it to be put in by a registered builder, or could I sweet talk my dad into doing it (he's pretty competent & has done bricklaying)
Thanks in advance
