That still doesn't really help - I am seeing anything from 180-1400Kbps - which is extremely vague !!
This is the reason why I posted the question here - to get helpful answers ...
1400kbps is the more realistic end of the spectrum, 180kbps would be 'top quality mp3' kind of bandwidth, and video is 5-10x the bandwidth.
Fact is the 'it depends' is so, so strong with this kind of thing that it's hard to predict. Nobody knows your particular phone resolution, network provider, cell contention, initial compression and any in-stream compression, etc., and these are all factors.
If we say 1400kbps that's 1400 kB every 8 seconds (8 bits to a Byte), and that's ~1.4MB every 8 seconds. If you're paying PAYG per MB for data, to be safe allow maybe 10MB every minute and be happy if it comes in less.0
