Selling Apple shares. Dollars or Pounds?

Hi folks - bit of advice please. My son owns some Apple shares, purchased through an employee scheme he joined when employed by Apple in the UK. He paid tax on the investments. He still lives in the UK and now wishes to sell the shares, but one of the questions on the withdrawal documents is dollars or pounds. Etrade manage the investment. Any advice on which currency would maximise his gains from the sale?
Many thanks in anticipation.

It won't make any difference. It's a question of whether you son wants the sale proceeds to be sent to him as GBP rather than USD.
Etrade will apply an exchange rate if you request GBP which (probably, I don't know for certain) will be a better rate than the one your son would get from his bank if they had to convert the USD into GBP.0
