First time buyer-proof of address inconclusive?

I am a first time buyer and had my offer accepted on Tuesday on a property and mortgage application submitted on Wednesday. The solicitor had asked me to send across a bank statement, my passport and driving licence which I didn't yesterday. Today I received an email back to say that 'they had run their standard security checks and unfortunately they have returned as inconclusive in relation to your address' I don't have any utility bills I can send and have sent another bank statement today for one of my savings account however I don't know what this means or if I should be worried?

The email was sent to me after 4pm today and now I know nothing will happen until Monday, but I'm worried.

Also, if anyone can provide any clarity on when I know nothing will go wrong and it's a definite that would be much appreciated. my moving date is supposrd to be 16th june but ive heard the mortgage application can take a few weeks and then the missives can too and I don't know if I'm too impatient!

Thanks in advance

How long have you lived at your current address?
Are you on the electoral roll at that address?
Is that the address on your driver's licence?

I've lived at my current address about 12 years and is the same as what is on my driving license which was sent over. Also yes I'm on the electoral role.

    Thanks

I take it you're talking about your solicitors' anti-money-laundering ID checks? They obviously have an online system which sometimes works and sometimes doesn't - I presume you've sent them the bank statement because that's what they asked you to do? I expect it can be sorted out one way or another so I wouldn't worry about it, but what exactly they'll require is up to them rather than for us to guess about.
Also, if anyone can provide any clarity on when I know nothing will go wrong and it's a definite that would be much appreciated.

You'll only know that definitely nothing further can go wrong once you've moved in :) Until then there are always risks.

Why 16th June? Yes, your mortgage application is likely to be the most time-consuming part of the process.
and then the missives can too

The lawyers can get on with much of the legal work while waiting for your mortgage offer. They might however be reluctant to in case something goes wrong with your mortgage application and it turns out to be a waste of everyone's time/money.
and I don't know if I'm too impatient!

Sounds it. Your solicitor can give you better advice about the likely timescales. Good luck!

I don't have a council tax bill as I am currently living at my parents and it was my main bank accounts bank statement that I sent. I only bank with the one provider and i have now sent the statement for my current and savings account so hopefully this is ok.

I've provided exactly what they have asked for however if it if for the anti money laundering check then is that related to my deposit? I did put on the form that it was being partially gifted but they didn't ask for further details on source other than name address and dob

Moving date is only 16th June as I said I can move at any time, I'm not in a particular rush however this was the date the estate agent suggested, possibly the sooner I move the quicker they are paid. The initial date she suggested was 2nd June as the sellers are going on holiday for 2 weeks and she said I could move sooner but I knew that was far too rushed,

I think I'm just worried as I have so much to do and organise for moving like buying furniture, arranging time off work etc but I don't want to jump in too soon incase for any reason it doesn't happen. My mortgage advisor said he doesn't see any reason at all it won't go through but I'd rather not take the risk. The I should have an update from him by Tuesday as he said it should only take 3 working days.

My lawyers are doing everything via email and it very specifically says not to call them as they will get in touch with my if they need to. I guess I will just wait and see.

No, it's an ID check to confirm that you are who you say you are.

They will probably want ID at some stage for the donor too.

Right, so stop stressing about the timescales! If it takes longer then the date will just have to be delayed.

and don't consider buying furniture or spending out on anything else till you know for sure this purchase will happen.

If you're living at your parents, and the sale falls through, will your parents welcome your new bed, sofa, washing machine etc being crammed into their living room.........

You are being far too impatient, and premature.

Is this a local solicitor, or an online one? I'd hope to be phoned for a problem like this as I'd want a proper explanation for what was going on.

Me and my OH were living with our respective parents when we bought our house and both provided a passport and bank statement each to prove our addresses, and they went through fine for us.

It is a local solicitor and I agree I think a phone call can sometimes be easier as I can get a clear explanation on what they mean by the proof of address being inconclusive. Like I've said I'm not going ahead and buying furniture until everything is fully confirmed but at this stage I feel it's unclear when this will although I feel confident the mortgage application will be fine. This was just an unexpected and not very well explained issue by the solicitors and was looking for clarity on what this could mean from people who may have experienced the same.
