I have water tanks in the loft.
Do I need a low pressure tap for the kitchen, or can I also use a high pressure tap?

Your drinking water from the kitchen tap will not be fed from a tank in the loft, it will be fed directly off the mains. If you want to check turn off your mains, then run the cold tap in the bathroom - it will continue if its fed from the loft tank. Then try the kitchen tap.Mr Generous - Landlord for more than 10 years. Generous? - Possibly but sarcastic more likely.0

Thanks, yes my kitchen tap is from the mains.0 -
Yes the cold should be fed from the mains but the hot won't if you have roof tanks & a cylinder so you need a tap suitable for bothI'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.
You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.0 -
Could I use one of these?

This one would be OK.
The one you chose is for high-pressure only.0 -

But it doesn't have the thingamy.0

Thingamies don't tend to stand any abuse, getting spares to replace said thingamy in 5-10 years time could also be an issue, big brands like Franke still only make limited spares, once something goes out of production getting a replacement a few years afterwards can be troublesome.Norn Iron Club member No 3530

I do understand. once you have seen a thingamy, you just have to have one.
You may be able to boost the pressure of hot water by fitting one of these:- http://www.screwfix.com/p/stuart-turner-techflo-tp-s-2-0bar-positive-head-shower-pump-2-0bar/6515d
Sometimes the flow of hot water from the tank cannot be sustained and you have to fit one of these: - http://www.screwfix.com/p/salamander-pumps-s-tank-flange-fitting-for-hot-water-cylinder-22mm/76906
Your plumber will love you for spending so much cash and he will be in your home for some time.
It is all worthwhile if you end up with a thingamy.0 -

Yup. :rotfl:

Have already spent much on my plumber, and he now understands the type of fitting I like, I've trained him so well he arrived the other day with the right sort of trap that I don't send him back to change it!
Value for money is about getting what you want at a good price, rather than getting something you don't want at a better price.
I'll ponder on whether I really want a thingamy over the weekend. The water is so hard around here that taps don't usually last that long, so maybe I'll reconsider, but at least I can make an informed decision.0
