Can anyone help me please Scottish Power are chasing me for £416 electricity bill of my deceased father, they have changed to the bill into my name too. There was no estate (tied property) or money from the death of my father. He was also living with someone at the time of his death (I have not lived at the property for 16yrs) I have written to them and told them all this, but no reply just a bill saying we haven't received your payment! I do not have any money to pay for this. Has anyone got any advice please?

You have no obligation to pay. Write to the MD.0

You personally are not responsible for your father's debts. So just let them know that the estate is bankrupt. SP may have a bereavement team, many of the utilities, banks etc do. They should be able to handle the situation correctly, talk to them.
Does the someone bear any responsibility for the bill?0 -
Did the "someone" change the bill to your name?.0
