Cracked Windscreen

A crack, which has started at the base of the windscreen, has appeared on my Corsa with no apparent reason. The warranty is for 36 months. The Manager of the dealership has confirmed there is no external impact but Vauxhall are rejecting my warranty claim as they consider a manufacturing fault would have been evident within a few weeks of purchase. The car is 22 months old. Does anyone know if this would be worth pursuing with Vauxhall or should I just claim under my insurance and pay the policy excess? Any advice would be appreciated.

Just claim on your insurance, you have no way of proving what's the cause of the crack and little chance of persuading Vauxhall to change their minds.

Windscreen wouldn't be covered under warranty, just like brakes and tyres.......... It's a wear and tear item.

Manager at dealership knows this, but instead of telling you truth, he's basically blaming Vauxhall and keeping you sweet with the dealership. Unfortunately dealerships are almost always run by salesmen and salesmen wouldn't know honesty if it slapped them in their smug little faces.

I would take photos and let Vauxhall customer services know and dealer. Most likely will do nothing (from my experience) but who knows maybe the manufacturer will look into this for you and help you with say a courtesy car. As its 22months old don't have any hopes though but worth an email.

That's quite a wide brush you have there.

Claim it from your insurance. Life's too short

Another for the insurance. £75 or whatever the windscreen excess is, no effect on renewals but don't forget to mention it because it will be on the MID.
