Cheap home cctv camera help

We have a problem with a family member entering the home without permission and removing items from the home. We believe the person is entering via the front door and has a key. (The locks cant be changed for legal reasons).
We would like to purchase a cheap internal camera to place above the front door. I believe this is a good place as it would not be seen on entry to the property and would record a nice face shot on exit.
It is likely that once the camera has been seen by the intruder that it could be removed / stolen. I would therefore like the camera to be connected to the internet. I would also like the camera to have a movement sensor, send notifications to a phone (possibly showing an image). It would need to record only when movement is detected but the recording would need to be on an external device or application in case the camera is stolen.
I have seen one on Amazon which could be suitable for our needs. Would the camera in the link below be suitable (does it remote record)? Or is there a better one available?
Thanks

You might do better to get a multi-camera setup which connects to a PVR box with a hard drive it it and then if the camera does get nicked the recording is still on the box, however these are by their nature more expensive and take more time to set up and hide the wires and what not.,
Plus with a multi-camera setup you can cover say the front door/hall with one, a back door, mount one up by the guttering (for example) looking down across the front path well out of reach and a fourth one wherever really.
The cheaper standalone cameras you have to watch out for as a lot of them will record onto an SD card which is part of the camera unit, so if it gets nicked the recording will go with it.
Most CCTV systems can be connected to your internet typically via cable and you can watch the streams over the internet. The likes of VLC player have the option to record that but obviously that'll be dependent on the internet speed for how good the quality is.0 -
That camera, have you read the customer reviews and answered question?
The reviews say the video is on an sd card in the camera, so if camera gets stolen then no proof? There is a movement sensor that will give an alert - in as an email with photo or via an app?
There always are better, and different. Some system put your stuff into the cloud. Some (usually the more expensive ones) give up to a month free storage. Some (often cheaper ones) charge you an ongoing £22 a month
1mp is not a great sensor, some do up to 3mp, some wired ones can do even more, but there is a price adjustment.
You could use an old mobile phone connected via wifi, but it may struggle in low light? .You could also use a light bulb with a built in sensor to come on, to enhance all cameras.
It seems tol detect movement and record it, but according to some that movement detection is not great, but according to Amazon ratings many are happy with it but you mileage may vary.
Make sure your family member does not get the relevant details and start monitoring if you are in or not.

Also try this on your lock https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xVFPA0FXY1c. A door wedge can also work wonders too0 -
The basis for all of these cameras is a cloud service with a monthly charge, some allow 3 "events" of 20s and will send alerts.
You might find it cheaper to fit an additional lock (£10 off ebay) or get a burglar alarm.
I have used Swann (buggy) and sent a few naff ones back from Amazon (check the reviews)
You may be better off with a cheap £10 from ALDI which the person steals but also a nanny cam which is a clock. Thanks, don't you just hate people with sigs !0 -
That camera is very obvious, an unwanted visitor would probably see it a mile away... a search for hidden CCTV camera came up with one disguised as a mobile phone power bank at £29. Looks like it uses an SD card.
There are several similar hidden cameras listed on Amazon. The one above mentions IR illumination although most are visible as a dull red glow in dim light...0 -
If you have an old phone you could install Manything on it and use that. Might be easier to conceal / leave lying around

Have a look at the Arlo gear.0

I bought a unit from http://www.eye4.so/ on Amazon or ebay - about £18 as I recall. I'm really impressed - simple to set up (some are a 'mare) and can be watched and controlled from phone, and records to SD. Some models in the range allow it to FTP automagically, or there are simpler, quieter units you can easily conceal, or ones which can alert you on movement (it takes a little setting up to get right - you usually get false positives). You don't need a DVR or multiple units if it's a one-off thief.
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Secret-Camera-Hidden-reviews-AVAILABLE/dp/B00ATNL9AS you may also consider this - cheap, self-contained, doesn't look at all like a camera, has built in recording and playback. I suspect this'll do the job for you as it motion activates and you can just check daily if it saw anything (it's not networked)0 -
