Help with a course from Reed

I am not sure where to place this so apologies if this is the wrong place.

I took a course up with Reed and paid for it, they use Robust IT to provide the training, however the training was a monotone person reading out information that wasnt actually factually correct.

I complained and was subsequently sent pirated videos of training videos (usually meant to pay the site a subscription fee) and scanned copies of books I already had purchased.

The information provided and support still was not sufficient to complete the course. I have tried to request my money back but they will not listen as I wish to use the money to go through a known Network Academy.

Can anyone advise what steps I can take? Thanks.
I have since raised a case with the financial ombudsman so hopefully they could help

Have you exhausted Reed's own complaints procedure?

How did you pay? If you used a card then you have additional options to consider for recovering your money.

Why have you approached the Financial Ombudsman? They tend to deal with regulated financial services companies, not training companies.

(There is a different company called Reed Financial Services who are regulated by the FCA - could there be some confusion?)

Anyway, one approach might be to make a claim from the company for breach of contract.

The Consumer Rights Act 2015 adds a term to every consumer contract that says any service must be performed with reasonable care and skill.

It sounds like your course was not delivered with reasonable care and skill.

You could take the claim to the small claims court.

    See:https://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/about-us/how-citizens-advice-works/citizens-advice-consumer-work/the-consumer-rights-act-2015/

If you paid by credit card, you could make a section 75 claim against your bank instead/as well.

I took it to them as it was paid on a financial agreement not up front. Thanks for your advice.
