O2 Random Charge After Cancellation

I had a phone contract for 14 months, i broke my phone in January and to cancel it would cost £150 whereas to fix my phone cost £200+. I chose to cancel the contract and take a new one out with Vodafone instead...

Around 4 weeks after cancelling the contract over the phone and paying it off on my bank card in the same call, i get an email from an O2 mycare saying that i owe £237 or something. I put it down to some scam from sold details etc, as mobile phone companies clearly do as whenever my contract comes to an end i get a hundred calls from everybody to join them.

I ignored them email and i get sent a letter from O2 link- https://m.imgur.com/3wpQL70 which was full of bad grammar and poor english. So i assumed it was a fake and ignored.

Now today i've recieved a letter from Moorcroft Debt Recovery regarding the payment. Now i really am confused, this payment related to nothing on my account and i assumed it was all fraud so ignored it but now debt recovery are coming after me????

Well the telephone number seems legit so perhaps it would be best asking O2 which to be honest should have been your first port of call.

When i first cancelled my contract i then cancelled my direct debits just before my final bill payment was taken out

O2 phoned and phoned me and when i finally saw the call i realised the mistake and paid the £35 owed at the time. They said that all bills were now paid and closed my account, along with my online MyO2 page which is where outstanding payments are made...

This is why i assume it is fake and scare tactics to pay. I tried to speak to an online advisor who said that i didn't have an account but i am worried about CCJ.
