Barclaycard BT to AMEX - Non Working

Hello all,

I am a bit frustrated by the new Barclaycard which I recently applied for paying off my AMEX Platinum debt. I tried several times to transfer the balance to AMEX and is not working. I still receiving error messages. I contacted both Barclaycard and AMEX and they can't help me. Everybody is bouncing me to each other and this is a never ending circle.

Do anyone knows how to solve this ?

Assuming that the AMEX card is a credit card and not a charge card, if you are having problems call Barclaycard and do the BT over the hone.

AMEX is a Credit Card with Cashback and Barclaycard a credit card with balance transfer option. Hope that helps.

Amex normally presents a problem with BTs due to the 15 digits.

You'll need to look for a money transfer option instead.

I have successfully transferred from Amex to Tesco and from Amex to Halifax in the last 12 months. In both cases, the transfer form in the sign up process didn't work but the transfer form on the online banking after approval *did* work.

It might be worth calling Barclaycard to see if they can help.

I have successfully done Amex->Santander but the call centre rep needed to figure out how to do it. I tried a second time and despite a lot of pushing, nobody could figure out how to make it work.

If your doing Amex>BC give BC a call to push it through for you the amex sequence can throw it out sometimes.

Just to clarify - you are trying to pay off the Amex using the Barclaycard? If so, that's weird that is has not gone through. I have made BTs from my BA Amex to my Barclaycard using the BC app numerous times and they have always worked without any issues. Call BC.

The Amex cashback cards won't accept a payment from another credit card via balance transfer. I asked the question to Amex when I tried to BT from my MBNA to Amex Costco.

The only way to do it is to do a cash transfer and pay it off manually. You can transfer to the non-cashback cards though.
