Applying with Nationwide - bank statements

Has anyone recently applied with Nationwide got any idea of how many bank statements they required for a FTB mortgage?
I'm hoping to apply in July or August, however I am worried that in the last few months my statements have had all sorts of things like holidays, a few bets and random transfers to friends which I'm sure a lender wouldn't look favourably upon.
I'm hoping 1-3 months bank statements will be the max, although I am a current account customer of Nationwide too so I guess they can dig deeper if they wanted anyway!
Has anyone any idea of how many they ask for? I am also curious as to when to pay off an existing £2000 credit card balance, 0% till 1st September. If I randomly have a £2000 outgoing payment this will surely ring alarm bells when they see it? So when should I pay it off?

If you bank with them, usually none.
Worst case scenario is a low credit score (theirs, not '999' nonsense) and or high loan to value which usually triggers a request for three months statements.I am a mortgage broker. Thanks for your reply.
When you say if you bank with them, usually none, is this because they have access to the statements already?
I'm a first time buyer, with a 68% LTV on a new build. Currently have current account and credit card (zero balance) with Nationwide.0 -
I wasn't asked for any when I applied recently , although i hold a help to buy ISA with them , as does my partner who was the joint applicant.0

They can see your account conduct from their internal systems.I am a mortgage broker. You should note that this site doesn't check my status as a Mortgage Adviser, so you need to take my word for it. We have just been accepted for a mortgage with Nationwide. I was in a similar position worrying about giving statement although i have a low overdraft and very rarely use it, i thought they would look at every single transactions. Turns out they never requested them and was happy with credit score, LTV (we put a 10% deposit) and our payslips to prove our income.
We don't bank with Nationwide either. No statements needed in this case.
Hope its as easy for you!0 -
Thanks again for the replies everyone!
I feel slightly more worried now as they essentially have free rein over all my bank statements as I'm a current account customer!
Primarily I am worried about recent holiday cash payments to the Revolut app for travel money. I under-estimated how much cash I'd spend so ended up topping up the app several times over 4 days. Looks slightly random and uncontrolled to anyone externally looking in!
However, if I apply on 1st July or 1st August I guess enough time will have passed for them to see my most recent months of 'clean' statements with minimal monthly spending. My direct debits total under £50 a month (gym & mobile) and then £150 on food, and £50 on monthly bus card.0 -
We applied with nationwide and only needed to provide the last 3 months bank statements to our broker and they didn't ask for anymore statements.Swagbuckling since Aug 2016 - Earnings so far.. £55.0

We applied and didn't get asked for anything, but again we have our savings account with them so we figured that was why. Don't worry about your holiday transactions. It is just a one off and they will see that from the other statements.0

We were accepted with Nationwide without showing any bank statements. We don't bank with them either. They asked for 3 months worth of payslips and credit checked us.0
