Yes - It wasn't signed by the author (not a printed signature)Just an update, another month down the line.
There is no update.
I haven't heard back from MSE.
I haven't had a further response from the ASA, after receiving their automated, we will be in touch in 7 - 10 days time, 6 weeks ago.
I did have a response from Miguel Barclay (who knows it was him, for sure)?I'm sorry to hear this, I did sign a big load of books a while back and it does get a bit scribbly after a while. Apologies for the original mixup too, miguel xxx
(Message copied exactly as received, inclusive of mistakes).
When questioned further, I received no further response.
I think the message in the latest MSE weekly email is somewhat ironic:-Competitions often sound too good to be true
I also find it ironic a consumer website which purports to helping consumers resolve issues, doesn't deliver and is beyond explanation or apologies, itself.
The conclusion I've drawn - If you enter a competition to win a genuine signed copy of a book, there is very little you can do if this isn't what you receive.
After all - It's only a book.
I do however, have one last ace up my sleeve.
For me, it's still the principle, and I'm very disappointed with MSE itself, for not resolving this issue.Fred - Where's your get up and go?
Barney - It just got up and went.
