I have a friend in a similar situation, and we talked about it a few years ago. I think everyone has different feelings, and some of the replies above may help your OH to make up his mind.
My friend (who is a 'straight line thinker') said: either I want to find out, so I actively search, using the resources that I can (once old contacts are exhausted, you can try the Salvation Army) OR I don't, so I let it all lie (the course she chose)

    Thanks for the replies.

As the title says I'm curious. I'm not interested in his money. We haven't had a relationship with him and my sons consider another person who sadly was only in their life for 5yrs before passing, as their grandfather.

It's his loss, I just find it weird.

I have checked the electoral roll but his name is fairly common and England is a big place.

The unedited electoral roll is usually available to consult in local libraries - if you know what county he was last in.

However, you either put the effort in or you shrug & let him go.

Whichever you decide, best of luck.

No it's not. I don't appear in my libraries version
