Acorn Media is delighted to announce the DVD release of the second series of the absorbing BBC contemporary legal drama New Street Law on 8 October 2007, and to celebrate we have 5 copies to give away!

This enthralling drama created by the BAFTA award winning creator of Judge John Deed, G F Newman, and former criminal barrister and writer Matthew Hall (Foyle's War) stars a wealth of British acting talent and regularly attracts an audience in excess of 4 million viewers in its peak time slot on BBC1.

New Street Law follows the cases and exploits of two rival legal firms, based in the heart of Manchester. Starring John Hannah (Four Weddings and A Funeral) as Jack Roper a young and highly talented barrister who eschews the route traditionally followed by young lawyers by turning down a lucrative job with his mentor, Laurence Scammel QC (Paul Freeman - Hot Fuzz) and starts his own legal firm with old friends Al Ware (Chris Gascoyne - Coronation Street) and Charlie Darling (John Thomson - Cold Feet).

Pitched against Scammel's prosecution firm, Roper's confidence grows with every case he wins, threatening his mentor's well-established position and reputation within the legal community. Lurking in the background is Scammel's daughter, Laura, played by Lisa Faulkner (Casualty) who shares Roper's passion for justice, but poses a threat.

Such is the calibre and quality of New Street Law, the series has attracted many special guests in its time on the BBC, guest stars include Jennifer Ellison (Brookside), Ray Emmet Brown (Life on Mars) and John Henshaw (Starter for 10) adding the the already stellar regular cast.

New Street Law has the ability to entertain while giving its wide and dedicated audience an insight into the inner workings of the British legal system. DVD extras include outtakes and a behind-the-scenes picture gallery.
