What does back dating actually mean?

I have applied for back dating, the reason being is they booked me an appointment without telling me, they tried to ring me but failed to get through and booked an appointment anyway, they did not send anything through the post or leave any messages,

My question is, if I am accepted for backdating, what does this mean? will I get the funds earlier than the 6 week wait, or will I get 2 payments at the same time?

I'm assuming you are talking about Universal Credit as you refer to the 6 week wait. If backdating is accepted, there would still be the same waiting period, but the start date would be earlier. For example, if it was backdated 4 weeks from today, you would only have another 2 weeks to wait for payment.

Sorry I am new to this forum, and Its the first time I have ever claimed, It is related to Universal credit with the 6 weeks wait, But they said it takes a at least a few week for them to look at my application, So by time they have accepted it wouldn't it just be the same amount of time as waiting the whole 6 weeks and not back dating?

just for the record, I backdated it 6 weeks.

If your request to backdate 6 weeks is accepted, you will be due a payment immediately, if that's what you are asking. You won't have to wait 6 more weeks from the date you made the claim.
