Parking Eye Warning

Hi,
Just after some advice / warning to others. I've recently received a parking ticket from ParkingEye. I appealed, but got a generic response so paid it.
I entered an empty car park (doubt that makes any difference at all) to meet a friend who turned out to be 15 mins late, when they arrived, they paid for their parking and I drove off without leaving the car (I think parking is defined as having left the car, but I can't prove I didn't). I hadn't paid for parking and didn't intend to stay at all (again intent will make no difference).
I do know to look out for Parking Eye now, but as they operate using ANPR there's no one telling you how strict it is. I'm sure there where signs, but I don't remember them.
If the car park was full and I had driven around looking for a space, say 5 mins, would they still fine me. Is that even legal?
In future, if this was to happen again, is there any way to appeal successfully to a situation such as this, and where do they draw the line at "parked" ... I could have driven round the car park without stopping at all and neither of us would be able to prove that?

If you look at the top of this section there is a sticky thread telling Newbies to read it first. It contains a wealth of information and examples of how to beat Parking Eye at POPLA.
It's a shame you didn't find this forum first you could have won.0 -

Sadly it's too late to do anything now. In saying that tell everyone you know that these parasites can be beaten and this forum knows how to do it.
You could cost them a fortune if you spread the word enough.0 -
"I think parking is defined as having left the car"
Wrong I'm afraid and that urban myth catches lots of people much to the delight of greedy scamming Muppet PPC's0 -

I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .
I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.
