Smart Switch vs. Top Saving Providers
I have just seen that I can save £234 per year by switching to the Smart Switch provider (Green Star Energy). Looking at my comparison however, E-On come up at £243 saving. Their customer service is pretty low but they are one of the big 6 and would save me more money.
Looking at the best rated providers, Avro would save me £240.
Looking for advice on who to go with? I will be moving house next month as well but didn't want to miss out on the Smart Switch if this was the best.

If you are moving house next month, then I am not sure that you will save that much by switching. You will have to read the supplier's terms and conditions to see whether they will allow you to switch back to them in your new property on the same tariff terms: most suppliers will only offer tariffs that they have on the market at the time of switching.
When you move into your new property, you will be in a Deemed Contract with the existing supplier. Contact them with a meter reading when you move in and you are then free to switch. You cannot switch before you are legally responsible for the property.0 -

I would suggest you take the cheapest option available for you (unless you have a specific reason not to) :money:
As you are moving house next month, why are you even bothering??? It'll take at least 17 days, and possibly 5-6weeks to switch (and you may well be gone by then)
Why not just take the cheapest option from your current supplier? :huh:
Edit: On reflection, I'll wish you good luck whatever you do!0 -
Thank you for your replies. It is my first move and didn't know that you take on the existing contract. I am moving in to a Barratt Homes new build so there won't be anything existing.0

@streety
The builder will have setup electric and gas (if gas is installed) contracts so they will be an existing supplier. Even new builds.
Building sites use power and gas and the builder has to commission all the gas and electrics in a property. To do so, they register each property and pay for their usage in doing so. Builders do not get free utilities.0
