Stop talking jibba-jabba, i love my 80gb classic, it rocks. I use to own a Creative Zen, since they've given up on hard disk players I've moved to the Ipod a few weeks ago.
I won't look back, this thing is amazing0 -
Well I have had the 30gb video and my new 80gb classic sounds just as good. I agree that the standard headphones are rubbish - buy the CX300's they make a big difference. Only negative point i could scrape up was that the album art flow thingy does lag very slightly sometimes - but hey it's hardly got a quad-core processor to deal with it!
Buy it!0 -
I've got a 160GB Classic myself and find the sound quality to be excellent. Not so noticeable on recent stuff which has 2-3 guitars and a drum track but stick in something like tubular bells 2 or even (in homage to the gorilla) Phil Collins and you can really spot the difference between the standard buds and something like a pair of sennheiser cx300s.
I've actually started to re-listen to a lot of my old albums to see what I've been missing for so long.
Cheers
am getting my husbank a Ipod Classic 80 and will get some good headphones as well if thats what it takes- are these the best to get?

I was just about to buy an ipod classic before I read this thread, and the amazon reviews. A lot of people on amazon are slating them, saying they are full of bugs and poor sound quality... Hmm. What are apple doing about this?

Have looked at the Amazon reviews of the classic and this is the one that bothers me and would be interested in comments from this board who have bought a classic ..
"got my iPod Classic 80gb the other day and immediately noticed how slow it was synching music from iTunes. I thought it was just because it was quite a big job to transfer over 50gb of material and thought nothing of it.
The next day though, I tried to add a few songs, update my podcasts and create a playlist and realized that there was a real problem: iTunes kept on freezing and the process was so slow that a procedure which took about a minute on my old 2nd gen model now took fifteen!
Fearing I'd just gotten a shoddy model, I did a quick online search and discovered that hundreds and hundreds of iPod Classic owners are experiencing the same problem. On the Apple Support site alone there are multiple threads asking for help.
This is not a problem with my particular device, it is seemingly a universal problem with the Classic, which people are experiencing even after getting replacement units, restoring and reformatting, and using different computers: there is a functionality and compatability problem between the iPod Classic and iTunes. "
Am buying for my husband who will probably want to download sometimes from itunes so am a bit worried. Is this the sort of thing that Apple will produce a fix for?0 -
I ordered one on sunday with express delivery so it would be delivered on Monday by 1pm (also bypassing the mail strike) however it never arrived. I contacted Amazon and they refunded the £8.99 express delivery charge however it still didn't arrive on tuesday like they said it would. So I fired off another email to them and they said if it hadn't arrived by thursday I should let them know.
It didn't arrive today so as they suggested I sent them an email and they said they would send out a replacement which should arrive tomorrow.
I'm just hoping that when it finally does arrive it won't be bugged.
oh btw the iPod was supposed to be delivered to Aberdeen but in my account is says the location is :-
MILTON KEYNES BUCKINGHAMSHIRE GB Held by carrier - incorrect address
Even though they have my proper delivery address. I wonder if this is why it has gone missing.0
