    One trick that I have used in the past is: drill it out BUT put the drill on reverse! The friction can cause the screw to unscrew...

    I got it out with a claw hammer in the end, it being the only tool mentioned that I have. It's left a bit of a hole in the plaster, but it's only in an airing cupboard, so not much of a problem.
